January 2012 Update from the Cartwright’s

Dear family and friends
Well we have ALL made it! We are once again altogether in Thailand after a separation of 3 weeks while Aleck went to Thailand for the start of the Advanced Principles in Communication School and the kids and I waited in the UK for our India visas to come through.
Thailand is a fascinating place. It is so laid back and friendly and peaceful but at the same time you can feel a sort of churning under the surface. The people here love children and are so excited to see Mya and MIcah and often try and engage them or say hello to them (the women particularly dote on Micah); they love plants too. Its fascinating – walking down these rough streets and people have tons of pot plants around the entrances to their shops or houses, and even mini-fishponds complete with water lilies in wide, pot plant, urns. And the food…YUM!!!….it is so good. Loads of fresh fruit and vegetables; the other types of cooked dishes are just delicious. Its really great.
Thankfully the jet lag hasn’t been too bad for us and we had a weekend to adjust and get used to being here. The kids have really surprised me as they have ….. after a period of a few days to adapt ….. really started to enjoy the food and try new things. For example they are eating brown rice. I was totally prepared to have to fight over that one but it hasn’t been a problem at all. There are other kids here as well around the same age as our 2 – 3 boys and they have all hit it off and enjoy each others company. Once again God has provided friends for the kids, which is so great.
We have really seen Gods faithfulness and provision for this trip with friends for the kids, super cheap tickets for the kids and I, money for visas and tickets. It has been really encouraging to see. Now what we are needing to see God do is provide our monthly ground costs while we are here. These are £1100 (USD 1730) for food accommodation and transport for the whole time we will be here. Please rpay that God will provide this for us, and if you would like to be a part of meeting this need, please let us know. Our bank / pyapal details are below. (There is also tax free giving options for USA & UK tax payers.)
Please pray for us
> that we will be able to be a blessing to the students we are here to help
> health and safety (we have to do a lot of walking on busy roads, often walking on the actual road)
> that God would provide for all our needs and then some – it would be great to be able to do some sightseeing while we are here
Thank you so much for your prayers and support and most of all your friendship. We are so encouraged and blessed to have you standing with us as we embark on these adventures that God has for us. We hope that you feel as much a part of them as we are. If you would like more information on anything we are doing or the places we are visiting please feel free to ask as we would love you to be as much a part of it as you want to be.
The plan is we will be here until the end of this school which is the end of March/beginning of April and then from here we will go to India where we will help pioneer the design school in Pune – as we did in Nigeria last year.
Please stay in touch and let us know what you are up to.
May God bless you in all you do and through who you are.
Aleck, Donna-Rae, Mya & Micah
